Japanese Restaurant ARIAKE

Oceania - NEW ZEALAND | category: Eat & Drink

Washoku is traditional Japanese food that contains Sushi, Sashimi, and Tempura etc. Washoku has become very popular internationally as it is healthy and low in fat.

Ariake is a fully authentic Japanese Restaurant operating in Downtown, Auckland, and has been established since 1980. Our aim has always been to offer the best in traditional Japanese cuisine and customer service.

The restaurant was named after Ariake Gulf in Kyushu by its founder Mr. Hideki Nomaguchi. When Mr. Nomaguchi first visited Auckland in 1970, he was very attracted by the scenery of Hauraki Gulf, which reminded him of his hometown in Kyushu Island, Japan.

“Ariake” literally means “The dawn with the moon in the sky” .

Tiny island - Goat Island

Oceania - NEW ZEALAND | category: Events

Goat Island is a tiny island (approximately one hectare only ) in New Zealand located close to the North Island coast, north of Auckland, northeast of Warkworth, and directly west of Little Barrier Island.

Goat Island is an incredible place to relax on the beach or explore the marine wildlife. There are dozens of outfits on the island offering diving lessons and guided tours, both from boats and right off of the beach. A guided tour is recommended, by the way, because of the strong currents that can develop quickly when bad weather approaches.
